Summer Jam 2017, one of New York’s most highly anticipated annual festival occasions, came harder than ever this year with a lengthy head count of performers and some surprising returns from hip-hop’s finest, such as Mobb Deep, DMX and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
But right before Bronx’s rap frontwoman Remy Ma shut the stage down with a femcee domination, reuniting rap’s leading ladies like Queen Latifah, Lady of Rage and MC Lyte, she sent it up in flames with a show-stopping “shETHER” set aimed yet again at Nicki Minaj.
Before a crowd of jaw-dropped fans, Rem exposed a barrage of clips, memes and anti-Nicki paraphernalia on a life-size screen as she spit through the first verse of the diss track
Bringing Lil’ Kim to the stage, Brooklyn femcee veteran and fellow Nicki rival Remy tossed a little more salt in the wound
And she made sure to share a word on female rap unification, Queen L’s time-honored performance theme
