Denzel Washington Calls Out Jerry Jones Amid Dallas Cowboys Drama

The life-long Cowboys fan didn’t mince words on ESPN's 'First Take,' about the franchise's priorities amid the Micah Parsons contract dispute.

Denzel Washington is a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, and he’s had enough of the team’s shenanigans.

During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take to promote his upcoming movie release, Highest to Lowest, the Academy Award-winning actor shared his thoughts on how team owner Jerry Jones’ handling of the team is frustrating the fanbase.

"I've been a Cowboys fan since the '60s," Washington told Stephen A. Smith. "He's making it hard for me. Not to be a fan, because I'm still a Cowboys fan, I'm still going to have the star on the side of the hat. But he ain't thinking about us.”

"I don't like what Dallas is doing," Washington continued. “I know they're making a lot of money, and I’m happy for the owner, but the fans ain’t happy," Washington said.

Washington then went on to allege that Jones is more concerned with the team’s profit margin instead of building a Super Bowl contender.

Although he remains a fan of “America’s team”, Washington continued to blast Jones' tactics as owner, president, and general manager of the team.

"I love the Cowboys, I love the Cowboys. Because I really love them, this is why I feel the way I feel ... All money ain't good money, Jerry."

“There's box office and there's Oscars. Jerry, been a while, huh? You ain't been to the show, you wouldn't know,” he added. “Haven't been to the show, so you wouldn't know what it is to win."

This offseason has been full of drama as the team’s defensive star, Micah Parsons, is in the middle of a contentious contract dispute with Jones. Things have gotten so bad that Parson has demanded a trade, because the team has not offered him the extension that he desires.

"Yes, I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America's team once again,” he continued. “The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here," Parsons wrote in a statement on social media last week.
