Steve Harvey Responds to Claims His Joke About Asian Men Is Racist
Steve Harvey ruffled a few feathers last week when he made a racially insensitive joke during his daytime talk show.
During the segment which focused on goofy self-help books, he mentioned one titled How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men and his intentionally humorous words that followed fell flat.
What really upset his viewers, particularly those of Asian descent, was his monologue that followed, where he insinuated that neither Black nor white women find Asian men attractive.
"That's one page, too!" he said. "'Excuse me, do you like Asian men?' No. 'Thank you.' How to Date a Black Woman: A Practical Guide [for] Asian Men. Same thing. 'You like Asian men?' I don't even like Chinese food. It don't stay with you no time... I don't eat what I can't pronounce."
Following his comments, social media dragged him through the mud for his words. And it seems as if he felt their wrath as he released an apology on Instagram. Take a look below:
The Asian community — and several others who shared their sentiments — let Steve have it on Twitter, though. Take a look at how they reacted below:
