Fox News Used A Photo Of Patti LaBelle In An Aretha Franklin Tribute

Should we expect any less?

Tributes have been pouring in after in honor of late soul music icon Aretha Franklin.

Fox News recently came under fire for their attempt at remembering the Queen of Soul. Instead of using actual pictures of the beloved songstress, the network mistakenly used an image of fellow music legend Patti LaBelle.

In a video segment dedicated to the songstress, Fox News featured a composite image of Franklin in the foreground along with a faded image of LaBelle in the corner.

Fans immediately called the network out for their mishap and insensitivity. Reeling in the backlash, Fox spokeswoman Jessica Santostefano quickly issued an apology to the family, friends and fans of Aretha Franklin.

In a statement to HuffPost, Santostefano said,"We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin’s family and friends. Our intention was to honor the icon using a secondary image of her performing with Patti LaBelle in the full screen graphic, but the image of Ms. Franklin was obscured in that process, which we deeply regret."

Fox's attempt at an apology didn't go over too well. After some research, Huff Post found that Fox's image of Patti LaBelle came from the 2014 Women of Soul: In Performance at the White House event where she hit the stage alone.

Making matters even worse, Aretha Franklin never joined the stage with Patti LaBelle and they were never photographed together at the event in question.
