Beyoncé made her long-awaited return to the Met Gala on Monday night, and she did not come alone. 

After 10 years away from fashion’s biggest night, the superstar arrived as one of the 2026 co-chairs and shared the spotlight with daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who made her Met Gala debut. 

During a Vogue livestream interview with La La Anthony, Beyoncé said the moment felt deeply personal. “It feels surreal because my daughter’s here,” she said, adding that Blue looked “so beautiful” and that she was excited to experience the night “through the eyes of Blue.” Anthony also praised Blue Ivy’s red carpet posing, and Beyoncé agreed that her daughter was ready for the spotlight.

The Carters turned the fashionable night into a family affair as Jay-Z joined Bey and Blue on the carpet, but Queen Bey still stood out! She arrived in a dramatic Olivier Rousteing skeletal-inspired design and made it clear that the night was also about honoring a collaborator who has been in her corner for years. Beyoncé said Rousteing has been “so loyal” to her and noted that she has created many iconic looks with him over the years. 

Beyoncé also used the moment to celebrate the theme of the night in a bold, glamorous way that was rooted in Black joy and body freedom. She said she loved the idea of “celebrating our bodies,” including “juicy, curvy” and “tall” bodies, and emphasized that the point is to celebrate “whatever God gave you.” 

For Beyoncé, the 2026 Met Gala was more than a fashion comeback, it was a rare public moment with Blue Ivy, a salute to longtime creative partnerships, and another reminder that when the Carters step onto a carpet, it’s all eyes on them.
