Michael Irvin Dropped as Keynote Speaker for High School Prep Awards Amidst Sexual-Assault Allegations

Top student athletes from Arkansas and Oklahoma won't be meeting the NFL Hall of Famer.

Michael Irvin is already feeling the effects from being accused of sexual assault.

Amidst an investigation that the Pro Football Hall of Famer allegedly sexually assaulted a Florida woman earlier this month, Irvin has been dropped as a keynote speaker of a high school awards event in Arkansas. Irvin was supposed to speak to top Arkansas and Oklahoma high school athletes during the Best of River Valley Preps All-Stars Awards on June 1.

Jason Taylor, the president of the organization behind the awards, told TMZ Sports that Irvin's sexual-assault investigation is a "conflict and distraction," thus the decision to ax the football legend and NFL Network analyst from the keynote speaker role.

He added that while the organization doesn't presume Irvin's guilt, they "don't want to take away from this special night of recognition." They have yet to name a replacement for Irvin.

The 51-year-old is accused of luring a woman into his Fort Lauderdale hotel on March 21 and allegedly drugging and raping her.

Irvin has vehemently denied having any sexual contact with the woman, with his lawyer, Larry Friedman, saying the "allegations are completely false."

"Michael was in Fort Lauderdale visiting his nieces and nephews at a track meet. He was also visiting his 90-year-old aunt and attending her birthday party," Friedman told TMZ. "He was blindsided by news of these allegations."

Irvin said that the two were in the hotel room for only 15 minutes because he had an early flight to catch and that the alleged victim, who is a cosmetologist, texted him the next day asking him to come in for a facial when he gets back to Fort Lauderdale.
