N.Y. Woman is Shot By an Arrow

Police are still investigating why a 50-year-old New York woman was shot with an arrow as she stepped out of her car Sunday afternoon, reports Newsday.

Denise Delgado-Brown, who is from Yonkers, N.Y., is currently in stable condition at a hospital in the Bronx, where the incident took place.

“I stepped out of the car and I felt a sharp pain in my stomach area … I thought I had been hit by maybe a softball or something,” Delgado-Brown told reporters. “I looked down and I see an arrow protruding out of my stomach area and I started screaming. I kept looking down going this can’t be happening. I would hate to think someone was trying to hit a person and just picked me as their target,” she continued. “That would just be an awful thing.”

Doctors were able to surgically remove the 30 and one-half inch long arrow, usually used for target practice, from Delgado-Brown.

For now, police are investigating it as an accident, believing that the victim was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, reports Newsday. They are looking at surveillance footage as well as any evidence on rooftops and parks
