White House Correspondent April Ryan Gets Married

“This is my second chance love story,” she said.

April Ryan is living the married life!

Over the weekend, the renowned White House correspondent exchanged vows with her beau, James Ewing, as reported by PEOPLE. For Ryan, her journey down the aisle is something she never imagined would happen again.

"This is my second chance love story," Ryan told the publication. "I'm divorced and didn’t plan on getting married again. I even vowed never to do it again. I never thought someone would sweep me off of my feet and make me realize I shouldn’t put myself on a shelf. There is more to give and more to do."

Additionally, she said Ewing – a retired Naval officer of 25 years– helped her realize there was more to her love story.

“I was content with being alone the rest of my life, but James changed my outlook,” she explained before their wedding.  I'm excited for the entire thing because it is going to be a moment of covenant, a moment of music, a moment of friends and dancing – a moment of celebration. A bunch of moments wrapped into one."

The Carriage House at Gramercy Mansion in Baltimore, MD, served as the backdrop for their big day, featuring a "romantic garden" with white, ivory, gold, and blush hues, along with hydrangeas and cherry blossoms.

Ryan also played on the soft pink pigment for her wedding gown from Ransom’s Boutique. "When I first saw the dress, I was drawn to it. It was the first one I tried on,” she said.

Wedding guests included Sheryl Lee Ralph along with Ronnie DeVoe, and during the reception, the love birds celebrated their first dance to "You Put a Move on My Heart" by Quincy Jones and Tamia. Gospel singer Brian Courtney Wilson also performed.

Now that nuptials are seared in stone, the newly-minted husband and wife are ready to take on the world together.

"We found one another after giving up on love. Now, our story is a forever love story."
