Seattle Storm Acquire All-Star Guard Brittney Sykes in Trade with Washington Mystics
Brittney Sykes is heading to the Seattle Storm after being traded by the Mystics.
According to ESPN, the Seattle Storm acquired the All-Star on Tuesday for Alysha Clark, Zia Cooke, and a first-round pick in the 2026 draft. Cooke was waived by the Mystics in the transaction. Washington forward Sika Kone was also waived to complete the trade.
Sykes is having one of the best seasons of her nine-year WNBA career. She’s averaging 15.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. The four-time all-defensive selection was named to her first All-Star team after replacing the injured Caitlin Clark on Team Clark.
Clark now heads back to the Mystics, where she spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
During her previous stint with the Storm, Clark won championships in 2018 and 2020 with the team.
In a statement, Washington GM Jamila Wideman paid tribute to Sykes for her contributions to the Mystics.
“We’re grateful for Slim’s contributions this season as she played a key role in our growth,” Wideman said. “We’re proud of the individual success she achieved during her time with us, including earning her first All-Star selection. This allows Slim the opportunity to join a team that is expected to contend for a championship this season.”
