Janet Jackson Reunites With 'Good Times' Cast

The pop icon caught up with former castmates Ralph Carter and BernNadette Stanis backstage at her Highland, California show, with singer Victoria Monét also stopping by to pay her respects.

Janet Jackson brought a few familiar faces backstage after her show in Highland, California, on Tuesday (December 30).

Following her performance at the Yaamava’ Theater at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino, the singer reunited with former “Good Times” castmates Ralph Carter and BernNadette Stanis. Carter and Stanis played siblings Michael and Thelma Evans on the long-running CBS sitcom, while Jackson appeared on the show as Penny Gordon during its later seasons.

“Good Times,” which aired from 1974 to 1979, centered on Florida and James Evans as they worked to raise their children in a Chicago housing project. The series followed eldest son J.J., known for his love of art and humor, along with politically active Michael and responsible middle child Thelma. Janet joined the cast in season five as Penny, a shy and creative child who moves in with the Evans family. Her character’s storyline addressed child abuse and neglect, marking a serious turn for the sitcom and giving Jackson one of her earliest dramatic roles.

Photos from the reunion were later shared by Jackson on social media. “Victoria, Ralph & BernNadette, it was so good to see you!” she wrote, alongside images of her with Carter, Stanis, and singer Victoria Monét, who also stopped by backstage.

Monét, a serious student of her craft, caught up with Jackson backstage, showing respect for the icon while more than likely taking notes.

The Highland performance comes during a busy year for Jackson. In 2025, she extended her Las Vegas residency at Resorts World, where she performed a career-spanning set for sold-out crowds. She was also honored with the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards, recognizing her impact on music, performance, and pop culture.
