Grand Jury Weighs Case Against d4vd in Death of Teen Celeste Rivas
Prosecutors are reportedly moving toward an indictment in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez after new reporting that David Anthony Burke — known professionally as d4vd — is likely to face murder charges.
This is according to TMZ, who first reported the “investigative” grand jury action. This particular jury helps authorities gather evidence, but does not indict. An investigative grand jury can be useful to subpoena and then force uncooperative witnesses to testify.
A source for TMZ said the grand jury that has been hearing witnesses in the Rivas murder is actually one that will vote on indictments, and multiple sources tell TMZ that authorities (including prosecutor Beth Silverman) believe d4vd was involved in the death of Rivas.
Rivas’ remains were discovered Sept. 8 inside the front trunk of a Tesla that was later impounded in the Hollywood Hills. According to reports, the car was registered to Burke. Authorities treated the discovery like a homicide and investigators believed other people may have assisted in disposing of the body. An official cause or manner of death has not been released yet.
Prosecutors are weighing whether to seek formal murder charges. At this time, no formal indictment has been announced, and no arrests have been publicly confirmed.
There have also been reports of possible tensions over cooperation. While d4vd’s representatives initially said he was assisting authorities, later accounts indicated he had not been interviewed and that investigators executed search warrants tied to the probe. Law enforcement and Burke’s camp have not provided immediate comment to reporters.
