Jay Z, Beyoncé Perform at Global Citizen Fest

Bey makes a surprise appearance during rapper’s set in NY’s Central Park.

Jay Z and Beyoncè wrapped up their On the Run tour in Paris a couple of weeks ago, but gave an encore performance in New York City on Saturday. The couple thrilled the crowd at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, encouraging the audience to help end world poverty. While Jay was scheduled to perform at the festival, Bey's presence was a surprise for the crowd.
"We out here for a good cause," the Roc Nation boss said onstage. "I want to thank everybody out here for this good movement." Jay Z opened his set with audio from Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" and Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind" before transitioning into his own New York anthem, "Empire State of Mind." He then performed a number of his hits, including "Big Pimpin" to "99 Problems."
Beyoncè joined him toward the end of his set, singing the chorus for "Holy Grail" and then dueting with her husband on "Forever Young."
The third annual Global Citizen Festival was hosted by Hugh Jackman, and also featured performances by No Doubt and Carrie Underwood.
