Drake Leaves Anthony Edwards Catching Strays In New Kevin Durant Sneaker Ad

The latest marketing campaign for the KD 19 features a hilariously petty script.

Drake is back at it, and this time he is using a shoe commercial to troll.

The rapper teamed up with Kevin Durant for a new Nike ad celebrating the Wednesday release of the KD 19 "Purple Candies" colorway. Instead of just hyping up his friend's new gear, the musician decided to use the spotlight to take a highly specific swipe at Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

The commercial starts out wild enough, with the rapper literally popping out of a giant delivery box inside the Phoenix Suns forward's living room. After exploding onto the scene with a bunch of confetti and calling the veteran forward "Pevin Purant," the musician turns right to the camera to deliver the line that has everyone on social media talking.

"Hey Ant-Man, can you drop your purple shoes? Said four kids in Minnesota," the rapper says while holding up the new Nikes. "Like, nobody wants to see those, they want the KDs."

The joke hits on two different levels. First, there is the corporate rivalry. The Phoenix forward has been a major face for Nike for years, while the Minnesota guard is holding it down as a premier athlete for Adidas. The Adidas AE 1 line actually has its own popular purple look, known as the "Preloved Purple" colorway.

The second layer of the joke gets personal. The crack about "four kids in Minnesota" points directly to the internet rumors and reports that surfaced in 2025 regarding the All-Star guard's personal life, when allegations spread that he had fathered four children with four different women.

The Minnesota guard has kept things quiet on his end so far, but the internet is already having a field day with the clip. Sneaker battles are usually pretty standard, but the rapper just made sure this round got a whole lot more interesting.
