Drake Reveals Why He Hasn’t Gotten Married

“I just don’t want to disappoint someone.”

Drake has many things in his life; a son, numerous Grammy awards, and several #1 singles, but he does not have a wedding band.

On Saturday (July 22), the “Spin Bout U” rapper opened up to Bobbi Althoff on The Really Good Podcast in an off-the-cuff interview about his life and why getting down on one knee is not in the cards for him right now. According to US Weekly, he told the podcast host, “It feels like something of ancient times.”

Drake –who won five Grammys and, as of 2022, the most entries for the Hot 100 chart and the most top 10 hits as reported by Complex—said his career takes precedence over the idea of settling down.  “I think my work is my priority, so I wouldn’t want to not be able to contribute as a partner.”

He added, “I just don’t want to disappoint someone.”

However, Drake shed light on what type of partner he envisions when he's ready to settle down. He admitted, "I probably would end up marrying somebody that's not famous" because "famous people really aren't that intriguing."

But for right now, marriage is off the table or the rapper. He told Althoff, “You asked me why I haven’t gotten married. The truth? I don’t think I can offer somebody what they’d be looking for right now.”

In 2019, he talked about his dedication to his craft and what it would take him to let his guard down romantically. During an appearance on Tidal's Rap Radar podcast, he said, "I love my space, I love my work, and I love my routine, and for me to break that for somebody, It would just have to be a really special person that fits into that puzzle, and that is supportive of the things I'm doing."
