Lil Wayne Receives Probation In Arizona Gun Case
Lil Wayne finally catches a break.
The already incarerated multiplatinum rapper was sentenced to three years probation in Arizona for a drug possession charge.
Wayne (born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) dodged jail time in an Arizona prison after striking a plea deal in a gun case stemming from an arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint back in January 2008.
Carter was in court via video conferencing from New York where he's currently serving an eight-month sentence after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.
We're quite glad that we were able to wrap everything up," James Tilson, Wayne's Arizona attorney, told Reuters. "It's a favorable plea agreement that will allow Mr. Carter to pursue his career.
Carter will start his Arizona probation when he concludes his sentence in Riker's.
