Freddie Gibbs: "I'm Going In on Jeezy Like Pac Went In on Biggie"

Midwest rapper talks plans to drop new music.

Gary, Indiana, rapper Freddie Gibbs made quite a few headlines last week after the raw and uncensored MC took to Twitter to let the world know that a Jeezy diss track was on its way. The feud stems from a disagreement the two men had that eventually led to Jeezy dropping Gibbs from his CTE World record label.

Gibbs recently clarified his statements, letting fans know it won't just be one song, but rather a relentless onslaught aimed at his former label head, and even warns fellow MCs about intervening.

"I don't want people to think it's one specific Jeezy diss track. I'm about to go in on Jeezy like Pac would on Biggie," revealed Gibbs in an exclusive interview with BET.com. He continued, "It ain't about to be no specific one, it's about to be a lotta s--t. And Jeezy ain't the only rapper that's gonna get it. Anybody that step in the line of fire, they gonna get tapped too. So nobody better not say nothing about this s--t."

Gibbs, who has never been known for mincing words, maintains that he looks at beef in hip hop as a requisite part of a competitive industry.

"I'm not opposed to having fun with the rap beef s--t," Gibbs noted. "Ain't nobody gonna beat nobody up. I have fun with it. It's a sport, that's how I'm lookin' at it. We gotta bring that competition back, man. N----s gotta quit b---hin' in rap. If you don't like a n---a, don't be a b---h n---a, say it. Say it in your music. That's what this is about. Ain't gonna be nothing left out in this Freddie Gibbs movie at the end of the day, except the bad guy don't die."

Still, the fiery MC made it clear that he didn't want his career to be defined by one battle.

"I don't really wanna make my whole career about Young Jeezy," said Gibbs. "I got a core fan base, I got a name out here, I get respect on the streets and in the booth. It ain't too many n----s like me — and I'd say like Trae Tha Truth — walking around that's solid in the streets and solid in the booth.

Gibbs' next album, Piñata, a collaborative project with LA producer Madlib, drops Feb. 4, and after that, the newly independent MC says fans should be on the lookout for another ESGN.

"I was gonna release another mixtape, but f--k that I'm just gonna make ESGN Part 2. That'll come out after," he said. "I think I'm moving in a good direction. I got some good distribution behind me, so I'm good. Everything I'm putting out is really doing what I want it to do, so I'm tryna be like the new Master P."
