The music world and funk music fans are mourning the passing of Detroit's Amp Fiddler. The singer, who had been suffering from an undisclosed illness, has reportedly died at the age of 65.

Questlove, a member of The Roots, posted a touching tribute to the singer on Instagram.

Last December, a GoFundMe was published revealing the singer was dealing with health issues and mounting debt from it.

"After many months in the hospital, and now at home recuperating from surgery in August, Amp needs our resources to support his continued healing as he journeys back to the stage,” read the fundraiser.

Fiddler launched his music career in the 1970s as a member of the soul/R&B group Enchantment. His exceptional talent led him to join the iconic George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic, where he played and significantly contributed to the band's sound for over a decade. Fiddler's role within Parliament-Funkadelic showcased his prowess as a multi-instrumentalist and a key contributor to their funk-infused music. His tenure with the group marked a period of creative evolution and musical innovation, cementing his legacy as an influential figure in the funk and soul genres.

He ventured into a solo career, showcasing his versatility as a singer, songwriter, and producer. His debut solo album, "Waltz of a Ghetto Fly," released in 2004, received critical acclaim for its fusion of funk, soul, and electronic elements. The album displayed Fiddler's ability to blend traditional soul sounds with contemporary production techniques, earning him recognition as an innovative artist in the genre.

Following his successful debut, Fiddler continued with subsequent albums, such as "Afro Strut" (2006) and "Inspiration Information" (2008), each demonstrating his musical dexterity and unwavering commitment to pushing artistic boundaries.
