Mississippi Sisters, Ages 12 And 14, Charged For Stabbing Their Mother To Death

Ericka Hall was found dead in her yard with multiple stab wounds and a gunshot wound.

Two sisters in Mississippi have been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of their mother Friday night.

According to Pike County Sheriff Kenny Cotton, a 12-year-old and 14-year-old girl killed their mother, Ericka Hall, 32, who was found at her house with multiple stab wounds and a gunshot wound, reported the Enterprise-Journal.

“She was stabbed in the back. The knife was still in her back,” Ericka Hall's aunt Robin Coney told WLBT.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Hall’s house after relatives found her unresponsive and lying on the ground outside. Investigators said Hall was stabbed multiple times and shot once in the chest with a small-caliber handgun.

“It was her gun. It was in her car,” Coney told WLBT. “So they had got it out. So I guess when they were doing all that to her, she was probably trying to get to her gun to fight for her life.”

Once police arrived on the scene, they unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate Hall.

“They found out the daughters — two teenagers, juveniles — allegedly did it,” Cotton told the Journal.

The unnamed 12-year-old is currently being held in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center, while the oldest sister, Amariyona Hall, is being charged with murder as an adult. Amariyona is being held in the Pike County jail on a $150,000 bond.

Cotton also said mental evaluations are pending for both.

“They’re charged with murder and we’re going to apply the law,” Cotton said.

According to deputies, the girls tried to run their mother over last week during a dispute. The mother reportedly punished the girls and they retaliated with the fatal attack.

“With something like that, she should have made charges and had them arrested then,” Cotton said of the first incident.

Cotton said it’s difficult for him to understand the girls' motive.

“I can’t imagine what’s going on inside their minds to process that,” he said. “A mom is a mom no matter what.”
