In the first Saturday Night Live since the results of the election were announced, host Dave Chappelle weighed in with his thoughts on a Trump presidency. After the usual jokes and jabs, Chappelle surprisingly offered an olive branch to the President-Elect.
Talking about a recent visit to the White House for an event hosted by BET, he said, “I thought about that and I looked at that room, and I saw all those Black faces and Bradley, and I saw how happy everybody was. These people have been historically disenfranchised and it made me feel hopeful, and it made me feel proud to be an American, and it made me very happy about the prospects of our country.”

“So, in that spirit,” he continued, “I’m wishing Donald Trump luck. And I’m going to give Donald Trump a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.”
