The star-studded Black Panther trailer dropped during Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday, sending social media into a frenzy of excitement and Black pride. But, of course, there was a faction on the internet that found reason to call out the upcoming Marvel movie for being "racist."
Unsurprisingly, some corners of Twitter believe that because Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett are starring in the film, that it is too Black for their liking. Some have even — wait for it — called for a boycott.

I feel like the new black panther movie marvels making is a bit racist— JJ Carron (@jjcj1901) June 11, 2017
It's funny because that racist cow has no clue who Black Panther is. 10-1 odds she thinks this is a movie about black power.— Eric Silsby 🇺🇸 (@eric_silsby) June 11, 2017
its racist when someone tries to exclude other races. Black Panther is simply a comic book movie, its not some epic film on black history— lucidanz (@lucidanz) June 10, 2017
figures. Oh yea and there is also a super hero movie called "black panther" coming out. But we are racist— Smith Harris (@HappyChillMore1) November 28, 2016
I WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING THE "BLACK PANTHER" MOVIE. economic boycott.— BYWORDtheBOOK (@BywordtheBook) June 10, 2017
I mean for me with the Black Panther movie, I just want it to not be racist and to be entertaining. I don't expect much more.— T. (@RickyRawls) June 3, 2017
So is the black panther movie racist 🤔— Ewan Clark (@EwanClark94) November 22, 2016
It's entertaining watching every white person tweet how amazing "black panther" looks just so peeps know they don't own a slave.— Owen Benjamin (@OwenBenjamin) June 10, 2017
I'm very fortunate to not have white guilt. It looks fucking miserable. Did these people secretly own slaves? Wtf is wrong w them?— Owen Benjamin (@OwenBenjamin) June 10, 2017
And for those defending it, okay, lets have a white Storm in the next xmen movie, or Black panther be asian, no? why not?...— HellFrog 💪🐸 (@FlyingHellFrog) March 22, 2017
bucky HAS TO be in the black panther movie— vili/vinny (@eviD_vs) May 8, 2016
I agree. White people should boycott Black Panther. No white people should spend their money to see it. Will surely b a box office hit then.— Exempt Me Now! (@ExemptMeNow) June 10, 2017
