Susan Sarandon is like the scorpion who stings the frog helping her cross the river: it’s just in her nature to hurt people who are trying to help her. The “frog” in this scenario is Queen Bravenak, a Black female activist who, unlike Susan, isn’t seeking to blow up the country by refusing to support any politician who isn’t Bernie Sanders or Jill Stein. By expressing her frustration over the division Sanders supporters have caused in the country, Bravenak unexpectedly created a social media firestorm when she called out Sarandon for her role in the divide, and it quickly took on the expected racial undertones.
Posting a collage of photos of Sarandon, Bravenak wrote, “I apologize for not saying f**k you to Susan Sarandon earlier.”
I apologize for not saying fuck you to Susan Sarandon earlier. pic.twitter.com/Wew0wOVMAC— Queen Bravenak👸🏾 (@bravenak) September 25, 2017
Although Bravenak claimed to have created the meme as a joke, a simple retweet and reply from Sarandon spawned over 700 retweets, 5,000 likes and sent a swarm of her supporters on the attack.
Apology accepted. https://t.co/0kzNNLP02e— Susan Sarandon (@SusanSarandon) September 26, 2017
C'mon. Why even say "White Army"!? What the fuck is that all about!? Do you hate white people? Don't play a victim when you are the bully.🙄— Karla D (@KarlaD2410) September 27, 2017
You are what Malcolm X call a stupid so called negro. This is you with Hillary, Ms. Hillary goods whites peoples! pic.twitter.com/ua5PDmVYM2— Kevin H. (@Kevinhforjust) September 27, 2017
Not backing down from the racist banter being spewed her way, Queen Bravenak held it down the best way she could.
Dear Susan Sarandon,— Queen Bravenak👸🏾 (@bravenak) September 27, 2017
I bet it felt GREAT to send your white army of progressive bullies to harass a black woman for daring to say FUCK YOU.
Will somebody please explain how me saying 'Fuck you!' to Susan Sarandon is oppressing the poor and hopeless? I want evidence too.— Queen Bravenak👸🏾 (@bravenak) September 27, 2017
Best thing today is the 100s of so called socialists attacking a black woman (me) for making a 'Fuck You' collage to 1%er Susan Sarandon.— Queen Bravenak👸🏾 (@bravenak) September 26, 2017
Susan Sarandon isn’t alone, though. As Queen Bravenak pointed out, there are others who have used their platforms to sic their legions of fans against people who oppose their views.
And Katie Halper sent hers out against Sasha Stone.— Queen Bravenak👸🏾 (@bravenak) September 27, 2017
The Revolution needs a reality check.https://t.co/STCkhQcjrE
While Queen Bravenak may have received tons of hate mail, there were some people who took to Twitter in support of her.
This shit fucking sucks. Why is Susan Sarandon harassing @bravenak? How do y’all not get that that shit makes her and evil asshole? How?— Sir James The Second (@JKH2) September 27, 2017
Looks like Susan needs to come get her fans before this gets even uglier.
