Jordan Peele And Daniel Kaluuya Had The Absolute Best Reactions To Their Oscar Nominations

Jordan Peele And Daniel Kaluuya Had The Absolute Best Reactions To Their Oscar Nominations

Here are all the nominees we care about this year.

The nominations for the 90th annual Academy Awards were announced early on Tuesday morning and there proved to be no shortage of Black talent among the nominees.

In fact, a couple of the acts honored in two of the most coveted categories shared a sweet moment that is sure to make you feel fuzzy inside.

Academy President John Bailey was joined by Tiffany Haddish and Andy Serkis to announce the nominees in 24 categories.

One of the most celebrated nominations across Black Twitter is Get Out's recognition in the categories for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Lead Actor (Daniel Kaluuya), and Best Director (Jordan Peele).

Peele took to Twitter shortly after learning of their nominations to reveal a beautiful moment that he shared with Kaluuya while they spoke about the high honor.

    Also honored for her work in film is Mary J. Blige, who earned two nominations in the categories for Best Original Song ("Mighty River") and Best Supporting Actress for her work in the highly praised Netflix original film Mudbound.

    Octavia Spencer was also nominated in the category for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the already widely celebrated film The Shape of Water. This nomination sees the actress tie with Viola Davis as the most-nominated Black actress in Oscars history. In addition to that feat, she's also already made history by becoming only the second Black actress to have three Oscar nominations and the sole Black actress to secure a nomination after a win.

    Also honored alongside Kaluuya in the Best Lead Actor category is two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, who was nominated for his performance in Roman J. Israel, Esq.

    NBA icon Kobe Bryant also managed to snag a nom in the category of Best Animated Short for his short film Dear BasketballCommon also is working towards his second Oscar win in the category of Best Original Song for "Stand Up for Something," featured in the film Marshall.
