There’s Some News About Lawrence’s Fate On ‘Insecure’ That Might Crush Your Soul

Fans will not handle this well.

Insecure fans are anxiously awaiting the premiere of season three of the HBO smash, especially after the visceral and somewhat open-ended conclusion of season two.

As fans' emotions seemed to level out weeks after season two concluded, they were flared up once more after the show's star and creator, Issa Rae, posted a picture a month ago, revealing that production has begun for the follow-up. However, there may be a possibility that Jay Ellis, who portrays Lawrence on the show, may not be returning for the new round of fun.

In a recent interview on The Angie Martinez Show, while sharing details on his role in the series, Ellis mentioned that he's been a bit "out of the loop" regarding season three's plot and filming schedule.

"I'm a little bit out of it," he said. "I'm not really... They've been filming for the last six or seven weeks or something like that."

Him pointing out that he has not filmed a single scene for the upcoming season may send the #LawrenceHive into a frenzy as his professional exit from the show may not be so far-fetched as Lawrence and Issa said goodbye to one another during the finale of season two.

"I don't know if there is a relationship," he added of his character and Issa's. "There was closure at the end. There was like, full closure."

Speaking on the odd possibility that this could be it for Lawrence's run on the hit prime-time series, he added, "Isn't that life?"

However, not all hope is lost as there is still an inkling that he may get that phone call that can change the course of this narrative.

"I don't know. I honestly, truly don't know," he said. "I might get a call tomorrow and they gonna be like, 'Ay, can you come do this?' And I'll be like, 'Yeah, I'll be there.'"

Here's to hoping that is the case as this won't go over well with some of the show's legions of fans.

Take a look at the interview, below:

While season three of Insecure does not yet have a concrete premiere date, it is expected to begin airing this summer.
