We always hear about disturbing airplane stories involving celebrities and often times they end up in the tabloids and no one really knows what went down. Michaela Coel, however, brought her horrific recent airline incident straight to social media.
The “Chewing Gum” actress took to Twitter to describe an all-too-common instance of racism she experienced while flying with Virgin Atlantic.
Congratulations to Virgin Atlantic passengers once again!

A lady just confused me for a hostess and asked me to clean up her mess and increase the flight temp.
What I’m wearing... what the staff are wearing. pic.twitter.com/MXcQr6tQDs
“Congratulations to Virgin Atlantic passengers once again!” she tweeted under a picture of herself and her outfit and a pic of what VA flight attendants actually wear. “A lady just confused me for a hostess and asked me to clean up her mess and increase the flight temp. What I’m wearing… what the staff are wearing.”
Coel, who didn’t engage in a physical confrontation (even though she had every right with a comment like that), is wondering how her appearance makes her even close to looking like a flight attendant.
Twitter decided to hop in and throw their dukes up for Michaela. See their supportive responses below.
What does she look like? I just wanna talk...

Lmaoooo the fact that we're hearing this from you & not TMZ is proof of how amazing of a person you are because this would be a mugshot photo if she has stopped me pic.twitter.com/4t5mwdYNAU

You should have yelled to the flight attendant, “this passenger has extreme diarrhea... she’s in extreme pain”

please help. #dire
So sorry and mad that happened to you. I suddenly envisioned Tracey (of Chewing Gum) responding + now I can't imagine what went down.
