Ellen DeGeneres Dismissed Kevin Hart’s Critics As ‘Haters And Trolls,’ And Twitter Isn’t Having It

The talk show host is paying a price for her insensitive words.

The backlash garnered from Kevin Hart's refusal to further apologize for his recently resurfaced homophobic remarks has now transferred to his friend and fellow comedian Ellen DeGeneres.

The usually universally loved talk show host has become the target of critics who have expressed outrage over her reducing them to "haters and trolls" while attempting to justify why Hart should reconsider his decision to step down as host of the 2019 Academy Awards.

As seen in a preview clip taken from Hart's interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, which is set to air on Friday, the host, in an effort to seemingly appease the actor, managed to upset a significant part of her core fan base and viewership.

"Most people would say, 'I'm walking away. I'm not coming back," you know, or 'I'm going to go back and forth,'" she told Hart. "But for you to be the bigger man and to not pay attention — There are so many haters out there. Whatever is going on on the internet, don't pay attention to them. That's a small group of people being very, very loud."

The beloved television personality, after letting Hart voice his hurt over the ordeal, once more, interjected, "For you to stand up and say, 'No, whoever you are,' and the trolls, they do it, and who knows who this person is? Who cares? You can't let them destroy you."

Take a look at their full comments, below:

  • The internet — particularly those who identify as LGBTQ — did not, at all, appreciate DeGeneres' dismissal and further expressed disgust at her claiming it was Hart's "right" to host the Oscars.

  • Several have further gone on to dub her remarks as a massive betrayal to the community that held her up for all of these years.
