Taraji P. Henson has long been an advocate for mental health, especially for Black women, and now she's channeling that energy into a new talk show for Facebook Watch called Peace Of Mind With Taraji.
The Golden Globe-winning actor is joined by her best friend and co-host Tracie Jade to "shine a spotlight on the challenging mental health issues facing us today – particularly of those in the Black community," according to a press release about the project. "Through personal interviews with both celebrities, experts and everyday people, the series will show how to provide support, bring awareness and help eliminate the stigmas of mental health issues."
Looks like the Empire star has the support of some A-list friends: Gabrielle Union, Tamar Braxton, Mary J. Blige and Jay Pharoah are just a few of the celebs who will appear on the talk show to discuss the intimate details of their journey towards balanced mental health.
Two episodes of the series will premiere each week; one on Mondays and another on Wednesdays. The Monday episodes will feature discussions with celebrity guests and everyday people, while the Wednesday episode will take a deeper dive into the various issues raised in the week’s previous episode with licensed therapists to help unpack and understand how to properly process it all.
During the premiere episode on Dec. 14, titled, "PTSD with Gabrielle Union: Not Just for Combat Vets," the actress shares how being raped at gunpoint sparked her condition and why 2020 has been so triggering. Henson and other invited guests open up about how PTSD has personally touched them individually and their families.
Later in the week on Wed., Dec. 16, that episode with break down why women are twice as likely to suffer from PTSD as men. Henson and Jade sit with therapist Melody Murray to tackle the misconceptions of PTSD and the issues raised by this week’s guests during the Monday episode.
