Actor Louis Gossett, Jr. was hospitalized with COVID-19 but left after seeing the conditions at his facility.
TMZ reports that the 84-year-old actor tested positive for the virus and was reportedly so sick that he couldn't’ stand. After being taken to a Georgia-area hospital, where he stayed a couple of days, he reportedly decided to check out on Dec. 29.
According to TMZ’s sources, the reason that he left was “he was put in an area with all the other COVID patients, and the wave of deaths freaked him out.”
Hospital staff reportedly encouraged him to stay, largely in part due to his age and the fact that he has had an ongoing battle with prostate cancer for at least a decade. Even with their encouragement, he made the decision to leave.
He is now reportedly home with his son and self-isolating until he fully recovers.
Through TMZ, the actor shared an important message: “Please wear masks, social distance, isolate, pray and listen within. We cannot survive without one another.”
