Femcee-turned-television-hostess Eve is the latest industry fan to chuck ‘Ye the deuces, which she adamantly expressed from her co-host seat on CBS’s The Talk.
Eve expressed that ‘Ye’s shameful remarks sweeping through Hollywood’s bad side about slavery sounding “like a choice” hurt her to the core, especially as someone who was a proud Yeezy fan for so long. As she ran the clips back of his TMZ Live uproar, the disgust of watching his social downward spiral physiologically affected her.
“I can’t understand how a black man that was born on the south side of Chicago can have these ideas,” she said. She also pointed out that she’d recently learned his mother Donda West, “may she rest in peace,” was an African-American Studies professor, making his words even harder to take in. Eve has no issues with his advocacy of “free-thinking,” but not when it’s void of fact and the knowledge, effects and much-needed conversations about history, such as slavery.
“It hurts my actual feelings, and it gives me chills as I’m talking about it because this is a man that I actually used to listen to,” she said. “This is a person that we used to look to as an artist.”
The Barbershop actress then called young, Black men everywhere to her attention, urging them to also do away with Yeezy’s shenanigans. In exchange, she offered up some conscious, sound-minded artists to endorse and look up to instead.
