Kanye West Gets Called 'Token Negro' By CNN Panelists And The Internet Is Dragging Everyone

Oh, and it gets worse.

At this point, Kanye West’s political stance and infamous tirades surprise no one. His recent self-inflicted backlash stemmed from his highly controversial SNL post-show diatribe, which led to him checking out from social media. His wife, Kim Kardashian, urged him to get offline to focus on music and his family.

However, in light of Ye’s upcoming visit to the White House, CNN anchor Don Lemon hosted a panel including contributors Tara Setmayer and Scott Jennings and former Congressmen Bakari Sellers to discuss the Chicago rapper and Donald Trump’s sentiments towards him.

  • With the subtitle, "Trump says Kanye West is a 'terrific guy,'" sprawled across the screen, Sellers referenced Chris Rock's 1996 comedy special 'black people vs. n****s'

Sellers stated, "Kanye West is what happens when negros don't read." Jennings appeared confused while Setmayer and Lemon laughed at the statement. Following up, Setmayer said, "Black folks are about to trade Kanye West in the racial draft," a reference to Dave Chapelle's classic 2004 skit. Continuing her fiery statement, she called Ye an "attention wh*re like the president" and even dubbed the 41-year-old the Trump administration's "token negro."

  • Some rushed to the “Hell of A Life” emcee’s defense over the surfaced clip and called out the panelists

  • Another CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota had this to say after Ye's SNL rant, “Kanye West’s behavior had become increasingly alarming, and was wondering if it’s time to start worrying about Kanye because he does go on, sometimes, nonsensical rants.”

While many may disagree with Kanye West’s political antics, throwing jabs at his mental state and mocking him is uncalled for.
