As has become the custom after the Verzuz battles, a number of celebrities have popped up in the comment section to provide their insight into last night’s Snoop Dogg and DMX’s highly-anticipated “Battle of the Dogs.”
For the latest example of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s ongoing celebration of Black music, the rap icon’s took viewers on a trip down hip-hop’s memory lane with a mix of their chart topping hits, classic records, and fan-favorite cuts from their respective catalogs. But, before the dust could properly settle, chatter of another potential bout is already going around on social media.
In the midst of Snoop and X’s friendly showdown, someone happened to spot a comment left by R&B singer Keyshia Cole where the Oakland native appeared to call out to fellow R&B songstress Ashanti to come forth and put up their hits against each other.
During the livestream, Cole wrote “@Ashanti was good” with a thinking emoji. It didn’t take long for the interaction to circulate online and fans interpreting her words as a direct challenge.
Not too long after, Ashanti and Keyshia’s names were trending on Twitter, sparking a debate between fans regarding a potential matchup between the two.
It would definitely be nice to have more women artists represented on the Verzuz platform. Ashanti and Keyshia Cole were the leading ladies of the early 2000s R&B wave with a considerable number of hits under their belts. Mýa also recently put her name up for consideration, so there’s definitely some ladies who want to get in on this Verzuz action.
