‘It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye’: Fans React To DMX’s Memorial Service

The service is being held Sunday.

Fans on Sunday (April 25) said goodbye to DMX, who changed the sound of hip hop with his gruff vocals and smooth and charismatic delivery style.

Fans gathered on social media to remember the icon, whose real name was Earl Simmons, whom family and friends described as selfless and giving. The remembrances come as part of BET’s efforts to honor the artist via #BETRemembersDMX, a televised (and streamed) event  of X’s homegoing celebration with coverage that began at 1 p.m. EST Sunday on BET and the brand’s YouTube channel. In-person attendance was restricted to close friends and family due to health and safety guidelines.
