UPDATE: Columbus Short recently released a statement: “As you all know, lately my personal life has been subjected to a lot of press. As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a Court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters. Accordingly, I must refrain from making any comments even though that is very difficult for me under the circumstances. Thank you to my fans for your continued support during this difficult time.”
According to a new restraining order, Short got into a violent fit with his wife Tuere Short on April 7 at their Southern California home. The actor had reportedly been drinking when he brandished a bottle of wine at his wife, threatening to hit her with it, but instead got a knife and began choking her. He also reportedly tried to force his wife to play a game called "Truth or Truth" and name all the men she supposedly had affairs with, and said he would stab her in the leg every time she lied to him.
Short capped off his physically abusive tirade by reportedly holding the knife to his wife's neck and threatening to kill her and then himself.
Cops were called to the couple's home and ordered Short to move out. Tuere Short filed for divorce on April 15 — allegedly she filed for divorce in September of 2013, but the two reconciled. The actor has been charged with criminal domestic violence and child abuse for attacking his wife while their two small children were in the house. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Short had another restraining order issued against him by the bar fight victim whom he punched and left unconscious in a Los Angeles bar last month.
This isn't the first incident of domestic violence between Short and his wife. He faced charges for abusing her twice last year.
