Suge Knight's Lawyer Says Straight Outta Compton Is Full of Lies

Thomas Mesereau explains how the film mis-portrayed his client.

In just two weeks, Straight Outta Compton has grossed more than $100 million, topping the box office for a second consecutive time this past weekend. The film is seemingly unstoppable, but according to Suge Knights lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, it’s inaccurate.

Mesereau gave TMZ a quick breakdown of why Knight’s character was misportrayed in SOC. “They thought they’d get more entertainment value, so they did mis-portray him,” said the veteran attorney. “I know the real Suge Knight. The real Suge Knight is a college graduate, was a star athlete, never was jumped in a gang…a brilliant businessman. He profited off an image for sure, but this is not factual movie.”

Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, is one of the most notorious label bosses in hip hop. Today, the 50-year-old L.A. native is locked up on a murder charge, and suffering from “health issues” behind bars.

Though Knight’s bail was lowered substantially, he has yet to post the amount, details of which his lawyer acknowledged, but couldn’t discuss.

“I’d like to see him get out of county jail and live a good life, which is what he’s meant to do and what he will do,” added Mesereau.
