D.R.A.M. Shuts Down 'Hotline Bling' Comparisons

"Yeah, I feel I got jacked for my record... But I’m GOOD."

On Monday night, Drake released his video for “Hotline Bling.” It could be the remix to D.R.A.M.’s “Cha Cha,” but maybe not.

Still, fans are comparing the two songs because of their similar melodies, and D.R.A.M. isn’t too happy about it. The Virginia Beach singer/songwriter shared his thoughts on Twitter after performing in Toronto for the first time. At the height of “Hotline Bling”’s buzz on the Internet yesterday, he saw a lot of tweets about “Cha Cha”/ “Hotline Bling” comparisons on his timeline and felt like he needed to clear the air.

“Yeah, I feel I got jacked for my record... But I’m GOOD,” he wrote.

It’s still unclear if D.R.A.M. gets a check from “Hotline Bling,” since he did kind of make “Cha Cha” first. On another note, Drake is hoping “Hotline Bling” reaches No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 so he can add that to his list of career accomplishments. When it does, D.R.A.M. might have something to say again about that sample.
