Andre Green, a 15-year-old African-American boy, was shot and killed by Indianapolis Metropolitan police Sunday night after he allegedly refused officers' orders to leave a vehicle, according to Fox59.
On Sunday, cops were following a vehicle with suspects from a carjacking earlier that night. The individuals in the car also shot at people after the carjacking incident. Later on, the vehicle crashed into a police car.
The authorities say more than one passenger fled from the vehicle, but Green, who was driving the vehicle, did not. Instead police say Green tried to drive the vehicle into a cop car again. Officers then fired shots at Green, who then allegedly got out with a gun before falling to the ground.
“There was someone else in the car with him,” said Malonda Lamb, cousin of Green, to WISHTV.com. "You saw something. You saw them shoot him, you saw them chase him, you saw something. Please come forward.”
Investigators are not currently searching for the other suspects in the case. The officer who shot Green has been placed on administrative leave. The officer was not wearing a body camera. Many are questioning the accuracy of the police reports, following recent police violence incidents in which footage told a different story from initial police reports.
