Body of newly promoted naval chief Andrea Washington was discovered the same day she was set to appear in court.

A newly promoted Navy chief petty officer and mother of three of was found dead in her Jacksonville home just weeks after she was granted a protective order due to alleged "domestic violence."

On Monday, investigators determined the woman’s death “was not from natural causes.” Although the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not released the name of the victim, her family members identified her as 37-year-old Andrea Washington, reported First Coast News.

Deputies were first called to the home for a medical emergency and when they arrived, they discovered Washington’s body. A cause of death has not yet been released nor is there any information on possible suspects.

Two weeks ago, a judge had granted Washington a protective order due to “domestic violence at her home,” First Coast News reported.

Washington reported she was pushed, kicked and “had a gun pulled on her by a man she was living with.” Washington reportedly said the two argued over household bills. She was set to appear in court on the day she was found dead.

Phantom McClendon, a family friend of Washington, told First Coast News that Washington was just “pinned” for Navy Chief Petty Officer three days before she was found.

“The goal of making chief is a major accomplishment and for her to make it after all these years...and the simple fact that she can’t even enjoy it. She couldn’t even go to work in her freshly pressed khaki uniform," McClendon told First Coast News. “I just sent her a message on Friday right when she got pinned and told her 'I’m proud of you.'”
