Update: Warren Sapp Fired by NFL Network

Pro Football Hall of Famer was arrested for soliciting a prostitute.

Warren Sapp allegedly did more than just cover Super Bowl XLIX for the NFL Network this weekend.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer was arrested Monday morning in Phoenix around 7 a.m. on the suspicion of soliciting and assaulting a prostitute, TMZ first broke and the Los Angeles Times followed reporting. The LA Times is additionally reporting that Sapp was also arrested for assault at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel-Marriott and was being held at the Maricopa County jail. It's not clear that the woman was a prostitute, but that's what is currently being suspected.

Hours after learning of the news, the NFL Network fired Sapp.

"Warren Sapp’s contract has been terminated and he no longer works for NFL Network," said Alex Riethmiller, vice president of communications for the network, to the LA Times.

Sapp was arrested for alleged domestic battery last year in Miami and in 2010 for the same crime.

Sapp, 42, won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2003 and was a seven-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle. A year after retiring from the NFL in 2007, Sapp won over and entertained a whole new audience as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. He was in Arizona to help the NFL Network cover the Super Bowl.
