Those 50 Points Got Us Like, ‘I Hope the Kevin Durant in Your Life Leaves You So You Can Be the Russell Westbrook You Deserve to Be’

Sorry James Harden, but this ends the conversation.

Published April 10, 2017

The MVP conversation and debate ended last night.

That's the way a lot of hoop fans are feeling today, fresh off of Russell Westbrook's record-breaking 42nd triple-double yesterday, surpassing NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson for the most single-season triple-doubles in league history. Westbrook also became the first player to average a triple-double since Robertson did it in the 1961-62 season. With two more games left, Russ is averaging an unreal 31.9 points, 10.4 assists and 10.7 rebounds per contest.

But it was the way that Brodie clinched his 42nd triple-double Sunday that got people talking. That's because Westbrook's electric 50-point, 16-rebound and 10-assist performance included a buzzer-beating, game-winning 3-pointer to lift his Oklahoma City Thunder to a 106-105 win over the Denver Nuggets.

Who does that!?

Sorry, James Harden ... we realize your stat line (29.3 points, 11.3 assists and 8.1 rebounds per game) is also very impressive and your Houston Rockets (54-26) have a better record than the Thunder (46-34), but Russ is the real MVP.

Here's Westbrook's game-winner and all the awestruck reactions to his record-breaking feat. And yes ... people couldn't resist getting petty with Kevin Durant for leaving Brodie in OKC.

  1. Russell Westbrook is a force of nature

    Legendary season.

  2. Even King James Had to Bow down to Brodie

    When greatness recognizes greatness.

  3. And This Tweet Dragging KD is yet another reason why the Internet remains undefeated

Flawless dragging right here. KD ... hold this L!

  4. And then there's this ...

    Facts, though?

  5. Hoops Impersonator BdotADot5 even felt compelled to do a tribute video dedicated to Russ

Well, this hilariously sums it up.

  6. Yes, that's Westbrook's face on Oscar Robertson's Body

When Brodie jumps over the Big O.

  7. Russ ended the debate last night

    We agree.

  8. How Sway!?

Seriously. How can he not be?

  9. That being said, you know there are gonna be those who try to say that Harden is the MVP

    Come on, fam!

  10. And to those haters, we say Don't Ever Play Yourself

Remove these people from your life asap.

  11. Saying Russ ain't the MVP says a lot about you

    He's right. Fighting words, indeed.

  12. And Check out this ultimatum

    Point blank, period.
