Denver police are investigating local East High School upon seeing this disturbing video, in which cheerleader Ally Wakefield is held down and forced into a split, despite screaming, "No, no, no, no, no! I can't! Please stop. Please stop. Please stop."
Wakefield's mom, Kirsten, told NBC affiliate KUSA that her daughter suffered a leg injury as a result of that June training camp incident.
As a response, Denver Public Schools' Superintendent Tom Boasberg placed five of the school's top officials and coaches on leave. That includes the school's principal, Andy Mendelsberg, and its cheerleading coach, Ozell Williams.
The cringeworthy video sparked a backlash of reactions from people disgusted with the incident and wanting to know why it happened.
Good questions.
Did this coach cross the line or was he just trying to get the best from Wakefield?
Do you agree or nah?
What's your take on this? Should the cheerleaders' coach have stopped it once Wakefield shrieked, "Please stop" or is pain part of training?
