In our opinion, actress Danielle Brooks has had a killer 2017. The actress launched her own clothing line with Universal Standard, participated in the #NoAngel campaign for Lane Bryant, and passionately spoke out and served as an advocate for body confidence.

But in a recent interview with InStyle Magazine, we learned that these weren’t things Danielle had hoped to check off her 2017 New Year's resolutions list. Besides, she doesn’t make resolutions. Posing in a “watch me sprinkle all these chocolate curves on you” stance, Danielle wore a Chromat denim bra, black leggings, and lined fur combat boots as she told InStyle why she doesn’t make resolutions.

“I’ve never thought of myself as a New Year’s resolution maker. Maybe it’s because my life feels as if it’s constantly in flux. A spark that inspires me to make a change might happen randomly throughout the year, like at the start of spring or on a quiet October afternoon.”

She further explains that when she was younger she made superficial resolutions, or rather goals, that revolved around losing weight often. But now those goals are more like, “I want to be healthier and stronger. If I’m feeling powerful, who cares whether I’m a size 14 or 16?”

That’s right, sis. Let the people know: It’s not about the superficial things as you guys are approaching New Year's and thinking of your goals for 2018. Danielle Brooks is doing it right and on her time.
