The design by Prince Harry himself borrowed stones from Diana's personal collection.

Prince Harry, who is fifth in line to the throne, proposed with a 2.5-carat, cushion cut diamond ring. The DailyMail.com reports the Prince designed the the beautiful diamond trilogy ring himself. The center stone is from Botswana, a country that holds special significance for him, and the two side stones are from the personal collection of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The stones are set in white gold with the main band of the ring in yellow gold, which as previously reported, is Ms. Markle’s preference for jewelry.

The couples’ first photo op with the new bling took place earlier today in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, where they officially announced the news. The royal refused to reveal how he proposed, saying “That will come later” though admitting it was very romantic and that he knew she was the one “from the very first time we met.”

Not only will the Suits actress be the first Black princess, but she will the first American princess too. Meghan, we’re all rooting for you! You know who else is rooting for them? The rest of the royal fam, specifically Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a joint statement, “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”

Our sentiments exactly.
