Thomas Dexter “T.D” Jakes, Sr. is an American bishop and pastor who operates a non-denominational megachurch in Dallas, Texas, called The Potter’s House. His sermons, which are aired on several major networks, have transformed him into one of the most influential African-Americans in popular culture. Bishop T.D. Jakes has written countless inspirational novels, two of which were transformed into successful films (Woman Thou Art Loosed and Not Easily Broken), dabbled in acting, and has even provided his services for President Barack Obama. The bishop is also a Grammy-nominated songwriter as well as a playwright with his own record label and movie production company. His career accomplishments will be highlighted at the 2013 BET Honors.
