Shaquille O’Neal Admits He Was At Fault For His Divorce From Ex-Wife Shaunie O’Neal – “I Wasn’t Protecting Her”

The NBA legend opened up on Tuesday’s episode of “The Pivot Podcast.”

Shaquille O'Neal was on a recent episode of "The Pivot Podcast," He opened up about his career, relationships, and previous marriage to Shaunie O'Neal.

The NBA legend blames himself for their divorce and says that Shaunie was 'awesome.'

"I've never talked about this, and I'm glad you guys asked because I don't mind talking about this, but I was bad," Shaq said. "She was awesome. She really was. It was all me." 

"Sometimes, when you live that double life, you get caught up. I'm not going to say it was her. It was all me," he continued. “I wasn’t protecting her and protecting those vows.”

The former Lakers star spoke about his family and how their support meant everything when he played basketball. But after he and Shaunie separated in 2009, he felt "lost."  

He added that the Basketball Wives co-creator, did everything she could to have a lasting marriage, including giving birth to their four "beautiful kids," taking care of their home, and managing the "corporate stuff." The divorce was finalized in 2012 after they split in 2009.

Shaunie is the executive producer and co-creator of VH1's, Basketball Wives and shares four children with Shaq. Shareef, Meme, Shaqir, Me'Arah, and Myles from a previous relationship. She has since moved on and is now engaged to pastor Keion Henderson
