Lil Mo Shares Heart-Rending Revelation On Her Former Opioid Addiction And Abusive Relationship

“Whatever you are dealing with, don’t take [it] into the new decade.”

A new year tends to bring new self-realizations, although it’s never too early to get a head start on pre-New Year's resolutions.

With the year drawing to a close, Lil Mo took to Instagram on Tuesday morning (Dec. 3) where she bravely shared that she recently managed to kick her opioid addiction to the curb ahead of the new decade. The startling news came as a shock to many as it was the first time fans learned that the singer-turned-reality star had been battling a drug addiction.

  • “[I] spent so much [money] paying other people's bills just to be high and a functioning addict,” Mo wrote in the post, which was accompanied by a photo that read, “I never thought I could get off opioids,” written in white text on a black background.

Mo took a moment to acknowledge that she still has some “old habits to quit” among other changes for the betterment of herself and her five children coming into the new year. However, she’s finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

“[I’m] glad I let the TOXIC GO!!!! I prayed for this….2020 gonna be a BIG year for MY children and I,” she said.

  • She further revealed that she was in an abusive relationship which led to her turning to abusing prescription drugs

“[I] was in and out of court because I was being PHYSICALLY abused. The judge finally granted my FULL PFA (protection from abuse) which covers the whole world. NO CAP!!! I had to let this GO,” she said.

Mo additionally revealed that she was “ashamed when [she] hit the bottom” to the point that she even “wanted to die so bad.” She ultimately decided to share her story in the hopes that it might help someone who is battling their own demons.

  • “It’s been burning inside me [because] I know I’m gonna help someone heal, she said. “I was ashamed when I hit the bottom. I wanted to die so bad. But I was HIGH and thinking it was OK [‘cause] I could afford it. I’m LIL MO. I’m famous. Famous people do drugs. Until the day I heard the words ‘I’ll blow your f**kin’ head off and throw you over this balcony!’”

She continued, “then I ran for MY LIFE!! [Nine] months ago. I haven’t looked back!! I’m at so much peace I don’t want it to be disturbed," adding “whatever you are dealing with, don’t take [it] into the new decade. We 28 days away. You can quit NEOWWWWWWW!! Don’t be embarrassed, be empowered.”
