Mashonda Joins VH1 ‘Wives’ Series with ‘Love & Hip Hop’

Where Shaunie O’Neal proved that an ex-sports wife scorned makes for reality TV gold, Mashonda will get her chance to throw rap wifeys in the mix on the upcoming VH1 reality show, Love & Hip Hop.

Following her own tumultuous break-up/divorce from hip-hop producer Swizz Beatz, the R&B singer will become part of her own circle of hip hop “wives” to show viewers the female side of the rap life. Latin hip-hop artist Somaya Reece, ex-girlfriend of Joe Budden, will fight to launch her own music career. Meanwhile, Chrissy Lampkin, girlfriend to rapper Jim Jones, and Emily Bustamante, girlfriend to hip-hop star Fabolous, attempt to get their commitment-phobic men to, one day, walk them down the isle. And Olivia Longott, the former first lady of G Unit, after being fed up with living in the shadow of her all-male crew, breaks out to establish herself as a solo artist.

"The show is about strength and womanhood," Mashonda said in a statement, according to Examiner.com.  "I'm excited about the show and the women on it."

After what she’s gone through with an unfaithful ex-hubby—not to mention his abrupt marriage to Alicia Keys— a new reality show is a helluva way to rebuild. Love & Hip Hop is scheduled to premiere on March 21.
