Brandy’s Walk of Fame Moment Was a Full-Circle Celebration

Sy’rai, Monica, Issa Rae, Babyface, and more showed up to salute a career that has shaped music, TV, and film for more than three decades.

Brandy is a star and her legacy just got a permanent spot on Hollywood Boulevard!

The R&B singer and actress was honored with the 2,839th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with her daughter Sy’rai, her parents Sonja and Willie Norwood, and a star-studded crowd on hand to celebrate the moment. Brandy received her star in the Recording category, with Issa Rae and Babyface serving as guest speakers.

Rae shared, “Brandy was and is the blueprint. Without ‘Moesha,’ there’s no ‘Insecure.’ There’s no me as a writer.”

The ceremony was a full-family affair and a full-circle moment for an artist whose career has stretched across music, television, film, and stage. Monica, Kehlani, Jenifer Lewis, Darrel Walls, Sibley Scoles, Dani Wright, and Tisha Campbell were also there to support Brandy, adding even more R&B and Black Hollywood energy to the celebration.

In her acceptance speech, Brandy reflected on what the honor meant, calling the Walk of Fame “a definition of legacy” and saying the star symbolizes the kind of impact that lasts beyond the moment. She also said, “Dreams don’t have an expiration date,” a line that fit the mood of the afternoon perfectly.

The tribute also showed just how deep Brandy’s influence runs. The Hollywood Walk of Fame noted that she has sold more than 40 million records worldwide, helped shape modern R&B with albums like “Brandy,” “Never Say Never,” and “Full Moon,” and made history in 1997 as the first African American actor to portray Cinderella in Disney’s television adaptation. The organization also highlighted her “Moesha” run, her Broadway debut in “Chicago,” and the cultural reach that has made her a defining voice for more than three decades.

For fans who grew up on “The Boy Is Mine,” “Moesha,”  or Brandy’s Disney and Broadway moments, the star is more than a career milestone. Her artistry has helped shape Black pop culture across generations and her influence still resonates in music, TV, and beyond.
