Brandy Norwood and Robert "Big Bert" Smith’s daughter, Sy’Rai Smith, has the vocal bible working on her debut album. In an exclusive interview with People, Smith said her mom is “really involved” in her music and Brandy is even producing vocals on it. Makes sense! The collaboration was Brandy’s idea.

Smith shared that she’s getting help at home as she prepares to release her first album. Nothing says straight to platinum like having superstar vocalist Brandy aka mom on the job! The 23-year-old told People that her mom is both featured and “vocally producing” parts of the album.

“She’s really involved in my music, which I'm literally so blessed to have,” Smith said, adding that her mom “got really, really brilliant people to work with me on this project.” With momma bear actively shaping the record’s sound, fans are anticipating nothing but greatness and harmonies.

The talented mommy-daughter duo’s musical history together runs deeper than Sy’Rai’s anticipated album. They previously collaborated on songs including “Nothing Without You” (from the 2022 “Cheaper by the Dozen” soundtrack), “My Family” (from the compilation “A Family Business”), and Brandy’s tracks “High Heels” and “Christmas Gift.” 

This family affair will certainly make beautiful music together. The two have also shared the silver screen. Brandy and Smith are set to star as sisters in the upcoming Lifetime movie “Christmas Everyday.” This holiday flick is Smith’s acting debut and the first time the mother-daughter pair have ever shared the screen. How sweet!

Smith also told People she’s “manifesting” a role on Broadway and wanted that stage to be her acting debut. Brandy graced the Broadway stage in “Chicago” as Roxie Hart in 2017, which was her Broadway debut. This is a family who dreams big and has the talent to back it up!
