Red Hook Summer on BET Dec. 5

Spike Lee dives into the world of an Atlanta-bred young man who struggles to find his place in New York City.

A sullen young boy from middle-class Atlanta, Flik Royale (played by Jules Brown) spends the summer with his highly religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch Rouse (played Clarke Peters best known Detective Lester Freamon from The Wire) in the Red Hook, Brooklyn housing projects.
At first Flik finds it hard to get accustomed to his grandfather's rules and regulations as well as the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle that is New York City. One of Flik's many obstacles presents itself as gang member, Box (played by Nate Parker) who tries to lure the southern-bred boy into the street life. Flik, however, finds solace in new found friend Chazz Morningstar (played by Toni Lysaith), who helps Flik navigate this unfamiliar world.
Can Flik overcome all of these road blocks on the way to finding his true self? Catch the Premiere of Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer only on BET, Thursday, December 5th at 1A/12C.
