RG3 Faces Criticism For His Comments About Angel Reese From Ryan Clark
Robert Griffin III, aka RG3, is catching heat for his negative comments about Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
During the WNBA season opener between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 17, Caitlin Clark gave Reese a hard foul as she attempted a layup. Taking exception to the foul, Reese rushed at Clark before being separated by Aliyah Boston, Clark’s teammate.
Clark received a flagrant-1 foul, and Reese and Boston were issued technical fouls.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), RG3 gave his unsolicited opinion of Reese in a lengthy video post.
“Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s staring us all right in the face, but people are afraid to say it. Won’t answer questions about Caitlin Clark. Gets mad when people praise Caitlin Clark for the explosion of popularity around Women’s Basketball,” his post read.
“Goes after and tries to punch Caitlin Clark after a routine, “make them earn it foul” after Angel Reese fouled Aaliyah Boston with a push in the back that wasn’t called. That’s not just hate. That’s jealousy and resentment,” his post continued.
Also, Clark referenced RG3’s wife being in the background of the video and co-signing his remarks.
Ryan Clak, an ESPN NFL analyst and co-host of The Pivot, took time to address RG3’s take.
“The one thing we know about RG3 is he’s not having conversations at his home about what Black women have to endure in this country,” said Clark. “About what young Black women and athletes like Angel Reese have to deal with being on the opposite side of Caitlin Clark’s rise and ascension into stardom.”
“If you’re RG3, when is the last time within your household you’ve had a conversation about what [Angel Reese is] dealing with?” Clark continued. “You haven’t been able to do that because in both of your marriages, you’ve been married to white women.”
In response, RG3 said that Clark crossed the line by mentioning his family.
“There’s a line you don’t cross in life, and Ryan Clark sprinted past it. Ryan Clark didn’t like my take on Angel Reese hating Caitlin Clark. That’s fine. Disagreement is part of the game,” RG3 said in the video. “But instead of debating my point, he personally attacked me and my family. That shows how low of a person he is.”
Then, Clark unveiled how he feels about RG3, saying he was terrible during his tenure on Monday Night Football.
“Bruh, you know what it is with me and you! I saved you the entire season on MNF. I urged people to let you be you. No matter how corny, how bad of a teammate you were, I had your back,” Clark wrote. “What did you do? Invite someone on your show, you know I don’t fool with to ask questions about me, and then hit me weeks later to tell me you’re gonna challenge one of my takes! You’re a phony bro. One of the worst teammates I ever had both on the field and in TV. You gotta do what you gotta do.”
Noted journalist Jemele Hill also criticized RG3 for his comments about Reese on The Dan Le Batard Show.
"This idea that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark is such a loaded thing to say," Hill stated. "RGIII is entitled to an opinion, sure, but the way he framed it? It completely missed the mark.".
