50 Cent Gets Why Samuel L. Jackson Hesitates To Work With Rappers

He also thinks it's way past time for Jackson to get an Oscar.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is typically known for trash talking, but it seems the rapper-turned actor-turned mogul is fond of Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson, who has openly criticized rappers becoming actors in the past, lauded 50 Cent for his acting skills and called on the Academy to recognize the hip hop star with an Oscar for his work. It was a compliment that didn’t go unnoticed by 50.

50 told VIBE, Samuel L. Jackson is probably the most underrated actor. Like, he’s trying to go for the world record of underrated … You have the strongest monologue and awesome performance in Pulp Fiction, and it’s overlooked. Props don’t count. He deserves an Academy look.”

Samuel L. Jackson has only been nominated once for an Oscar for his performance in 1994′s Pulp Fiction.

As far as Samuel L. Jackson’s previous thoughts about rappers attempting to become thespians, several years ago he said, To take people from the music world and give them the same kind of credibility and weight that you give me, Morgan Freeman, Laurence Fishburne, Forest Whitaker — that’s like an aberration to me; you just can’t do that… It’s not my job to lend credibility to so-and-so rapper who’s just coming into the business… I know there’s some young actor sitting in New York or in L.A. who’s spent half of his life learning how to act and sacrificing to learn his craft but isn’t going to get his opportunity … because of some actor who’s been created — and you can use the word ‘actor’ loosely.

However, 50 Cent understands and told VIBE, He said something about me earlier. I was a fan of him before and after he said it. You understand, if you are that passionate… That person has disciplined himself and trained himself… I’m with Sam: I don’t want to be in no movie with no damn rapper.
